Police in Apopka, FL raided the “set” of a reality show, where women contestants were allegedly being held against their will. Allegedly, the women had their cell phones taken away, and were not allowed to leave the house. “The manager of the show,” Marc Brilleman, was arrested and charged with false imprisonment.
Brilleman was attempting to produce a show called “Pauper to Princess.” I’ve got a good look at some of these girls, and as best I can tell, that show would make for great television. It looks like a crazy, white trash (not Rock of Love white trash, I’m talking about descendants of the Hatfields and McCoys white trash, the type that own all the seasons of Hee Haw on DVD) circus, the kind with elephants wearing wife-beaters and ringmasters with foo manchus.
I have very mixed feelings. On the one hand, I really want to watch this show, and hope this whole “arresting the producer of the show” thing doesn’t put the old kay-bosh on production. On the other hand, maybe the “arresting the producer of the show” thing will give this clearly low-rent production the attention it needs to actually get made.
They probably could have come up with a better title than “Pauper to Princess.” Who’s getting the writing credit for this? Mark Twain?
I watched a bit of the show (and you can too at http://www.paupertoprincess.com/), and I, for one, am confused. The show looks to me to be a totally amateur product, but it does look like it was a genuine attempt at making a show. It looks like too much work to trick some self-described trashy girls (many of whom I suspect are or were strippers) to have sex with you. That seems like going all the way to Russia to get some whiskey. If I have any instincts at all, there is a lot more to this story, yet to come out. What am I basing this on? Check out this quote:
“”Watch out for schemes,” a female Pauper to Princess contestant said.
“Was there anything sexual going on?” asked a local newsman.
“I can’t talk about anything…just watch out for schemes.”
Schemes? Watch out for schemes? Someone’s lying. I’m not sure who, but someone in this situation is totally full of shit. Either it is some elaborate ruse to net skanks, and the producers are full of it, or all of this nonsense is just the lashing out of some contestant who got eliminated and feels jilted.
Time will tell on this one, but if I were a betting man (which I am), I would say that the producers were genuinely trying to make a reality show, but since they had no money or affiliation with MTV or VH1, they had no access to the top tier contestant pool, leading to them casting some seriously unstable women on the show. All the “(Fill In The Blank) of Love” shows feature crazy, chaotic women, but they lash out just to get attention. If casting for that show was less exclusive, no legal department in this country could withstand the crazies they would end up having to deal with.
I suspect that this is the case, but we’ll see as this thing plays out. You can count on all of us here at Friesen Point to keep you abreast of the latest Pauper to Princess news.

That website it fucking terrible. Who’s producing this, the guys who do Ghetto Fights? There’s not even glimmer of hope that anyone who went on that show would be any less of a piece of trash after being on it. After reading the FOX story on this, it sounds like this is not going to be picked up by any network.
I agree that it’s very, very poorly made, but I still think that it’s too much work to be a “scheme.” I think that girl meant that people should look out for scams, but misspoke twice. I have my hopes that there will be a media swarm about this story that will get everyone’s attention and make it sound profitable to put the show out. That probably won’t happen, and from the sound of it, they didn’t finish the show before the bust.
Maybe the “scheme”/”scam” is that the bust is the season finale. My theory is that was the way the show was supposed to end. I haven’t visited the website, but from your description of the show, it sounds like the only fitting conclusion of such a trashy reality show would be for at least one member of the production team to end up in the clink. Then again, I don’t know that someone who decided to name their show “Princess to Pauper” could think of such a complex ending.
Becca’s got a good point, it could be a huge publicity stunt to get an otherwise failed reality show the boost in attention it needs.
you know what? after a more thorough look through that site, i’m suspecting we’re being misled. all the 13 episodes we can watch are really just the same intro from the beginning. we don’t see anyone actually doing any “reality show” things. everything seemed to be taped in one day. no one in a house, interactions, activities. i’m getting a religious vibe from the show too, about how the girls need morals and need to a role model they can look up too. something very strange is afoot in this show.
That’s my sincere hope. Some of those chicks look like they could be the next “Tipsy Ripsi,” in terms of creating quality television. But, if that is the case, why is that female contestant warning people to “look out for schemes?” That doesn’t make sense to me. Her warning seems more cryptic, seemingly aimed at other trashy gals out there who might get duped into being on a bottom-of-the-barrel reality show. All I know is that I’m completely fascinated by this story, and will be keeping up with it.
Okay, my last comment was in response to your other comment. In response to the most recent one, I would argue that a pseudo-religious vibe could make things even better, more interesting. A lot of people who kill hookers do it for religious reasons; they were just trying to get the young lady to realize the error of her ways, but after realizing that it is impossible to turn a hoe into a housewife, they give up and have to kill her out of shame. This is getting a little too cathartic. I do think it was shot on more than one day, but I agree that the idea that they have 13 full episodes is a little misleading. I do like how there are tons of shots with the mic prominently featured. Assholes couldn’t even afford a boom!
the whole show or the 7 weeks of the show was misleading…. the producer didn’t have a clue on what brilleman was doing in that house.he was playing alot of mind games with those girls, and i know for a fact those girls are not trash, that was the producers mistake, they wanted trash so they wouldn’t have a problem but instead they got girls with a brain and did’t let marc totally brake them down. the girls were lied to time and time again as were their parents,,,your right about the poor quality of the show! it sucked from the beginning and i am sorry the girls were to scared to leave earlier…., why not give all the girls a lie detector and brilleman one too, then judge on who is telling the truth.. you tell me how 8 girls can make up a story and tell it over and over and it never change…the truth is the truth…
